I thought the new year would be a great time for my new food blog to make it’s debut. If you are reading this you have probably met me on Instagram which prompted me to starting this food blog. Basically I started sharing pictures and recipes on Instagram because it was a quick and easy way for me to do something just for myself. I am a stay-at-home mother to two young children and the life season I am currently in leaves little room for anything besides, well, just anything. It’s the season where most meals are made with my baby at my feet or on my hip. It’s where a good day is if we are all dressed by lunch time. And a great day is when I finish one cup of coffee without having to re-heat it. It’s quite possibly the very best time in my life but also the most mundane and exhausting at the same time. If you are in this season right now then you get it. If you have lived through this stage already you are probably laughing because you know it is short-lived and the challenges are not that hard. Starting this blog is my way of guaranteeing that I carve out a little bit of time for myself to do something that I love.
This blog is about wholesome, tasty, simple and homemade meals for you and your family. The meals I make have to appeal my one year old son (discovering new tastes every day), to my daughter (aka the picky preschooler), my husband (who would eat frozen pizza and sugary cereal if he had it his way) and myself (the foodie and household chef). Some days our meals look like green smoothies & lettuce wraps, other days we’re having cinnamon rolls & cheesy lasagna. The common denominator is that the ingredients are always real and the meals are always homemade. My kitchen is usually messy, my household is usually littered in toys, but when my family is gathered around the table eating a dish that I made from scratch, I am happy. I hope what we do in our kitchen may inspire what you do in yours. Thanks for following along!
My 2016 Food Blogging Goals include:
- 3 posts per week (This will probably be on Mon-Wed-Fri not that you really probably care, but I want to lay it all out to keep myself accountable.)
- Improve my blogging skills (Right now I know how to post a recipe and a picture. I hope to learn and improve as I go with this – bear with me!)
- Maintain my Instagram account since I started there and it’s a great way to communicate with followers (If you need clarification on a recipe don’t be afraid to ask, your involvement may be the only adult interaction I have that day!)
- Keep it simple and fun (This is a reminder to the perfectionist in me.)
